Hey guys, haven't posted anything in this section for a while, so bare with me. So this is going to be mainly an explanation, as I find most people lack the background knowledge on EXIF, and what it means. So, onto the meat of this tut.
EXIF data and photo-location scraping

What is EXIF, and why does it matter?
EXIF stands for Exchangeable image file format (Exif), and contains lots of information about formatting, sound, and.... geolocation. This feature comes standard in a few digital devices now, including the ever-more popular Iphone. Many other digital cameras and phones have geotagging enabled on factory settings, and log information such as location, time, date, etc. This of course can be very dangerous for anyone with a few online enemies, and the cops are well aware of EXIF, proven by the fact that they caught the creator of Mcafee turned gangster John Mcafee with EXIF data scrubbed from a picture he took while on the run, with an Iphone.
How do I extract EXIF data from a picture?
There is a simple program for windows users made by BR software, and it extracts the data as a CSV file. There are many more programs and tutorials out there, and a few web-based ones, but I use this one. Here's the link http://www.br-software.com/extracter.html
How do I disable this manually?
Well in Windows, you simply right-click on the image, select properties. Now hit the Details tab and click on the “Remove Properties and Personal Information” link. The next screen will give you an option to remove the various metadata(EXIF and XMP data) that is embedded inside the picture.
